After receiving our grant money, we were eager to order our silversmithing materials and begin
putting our workshops together. We picked up all of our supplies and were able to work with
silver after years of a hiatus! Our first practice silversmithing session was filled with trial and
error. We got used to our new torches, figured out some essential missing pieces and ordered
them online, then planned our first class. Because we had never bought our own silversmithing
tools and materials, this practice session included us discussing better products we would like to
purchase for workshops and how to create beautiful rings without access to endless varieties of
metal thicknesses and designs. We had so much fun planning our first workshop and cannot
wait to teach others how to silversmith!
